First Friday Arts – December 2017

As an artist and outdoor enthusiast, Carol Chamberland finds inspiration in the wild landscapes of New Mexico. Her recent works include mixed media paintings, digital print media, and photography. This series, called Reprise of the Ancient Ones, “celebrates the vision of the ancient artists with the utmost respect for their craft. Each image is faithfully drawn, then digitized and superimposed on a stylized photo of the landscape where that petroglyph resides.”

Carol’s works have been exhibited in a variety of venues, including the New Mexico State Fair, the Placitas Artist Series, Taos Center for the Arts, the Art Center at Fuller Lodge, and the Albuquerque Open Space Visitor Center. She is represented in Albuquerque by the Weyrich Gallery.

She serves as a docent at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History. Carol also leads a crew of archaeology volunteers for the Bureau of Land Management. In 2015 the New Mexico State Historic Preservation Office honored her with an Individual Achievement Award. The U.S. Department of the Interior granted her the 2015 National Volunteer Award for Making a Difference on Public Lands.

We will be holding a First Friday opening from 6-8 p.m. on December 1 at the Albuquerque office (2215 Lead Ave SE), refreshments provided. The work will hang through January, and 30% of sales go to the Sierra Club.

Please contact Heather Kline at 505-577-2798 with any questions, or if you would like to be show your artwork.
