On February 20, 2019, crowds gathered at the New Mexico Legislature to celebrate the state’s public lands and call for their protection as a diverse coalition of tribal leaders, legislators, land users, and allied organizations showcased the delivery of 30,000 public protests to the BLM in opposition to its March 2019 oil and gas lease sale.
New Mexico gets legislation done with the help of its communities. The green wave continues to grow and the more everyone gets involved the more we can accomplish together. Teams are building, families are growing, and the unity is strengthening.

HB 366 has become known as Roxy’s Law, in honor of an 8-year-old heeler mix strangled in a trap last month at Santa Cruz Lake. When the House Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee took testimony from the public about the issue Thursday, however, the biggest argument against trapping was simply that it is cruel.
A study finds a mix of renewable energy, battery storage, and energy efficiency is the lowest-cost option for Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) to replace the coal-fired San Juan Generating Station. San Juan is on track to close in 2022.
