El Paso Electric’s Newman Gas Plant is a massive polluter of the air Southern New Mexicans breathe.
Now, El Paso Electric wants to build another 228-megawatt fracked-gas generator at the plant, just over the Texas border from Chaparral, a New Mexico colonia that already suffers dangerous levels of air pollution.
This gas expansion would make our air even more dangerous, set back our climate efforts and discourage clean-energy development in the region for decades.
