“Roadless Rule” Town Halls across New Mexico
Trump’s Forest Service has moved to repeal the Roadless Rule, an essential piece of environmental regulation that protects 45 million acres of pristine land (1.6 million acres in New Mexico) from road construction and the inevitable logging, mining, and extraction that follows. The administration is attempting to suppress public input on this 25 year-old rule with a truncated comment period and no public meetings. So, the Wilderness Society, New Mexico Wilderness Alliance, and the Sierra Club Rio Grande Chapter are holding our own across the state to activate people and collect tens of thousands of comments gathered on sc.org/roadlessrule.
