Wilderness First Aid Course Special for Sierra Club Members
The Sierra Club, Rio Grande Chapter in conjunction with Kirtland Air Force Base, Outdoor Recreation has been offered the opportunity to convene a wilderness first aid course especially geared toward our members. This course includes both classroom and experiential learning techniques that make it fun and effective and no prior experience is required. This course is in high demand and typically fills-up months in advance.
Who should attend? If you’re ever more than an hour away from a hospital or one mile from any road and there’s an emergency you’ll need to know what to do. This 2-day first aid course provides training for anyone that spends time hiking, skiing, engaged in other outdoor pursuits, or just wants to know what to do when things go south, at home or in the backcountry.
Material covered in the course includes heat and cold related injuries, medical emergencies and critical care in the field, fracture care, musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries, survival skills and more. Additionally, treatment scenarios will give you the confidence you need to deal with many common types of emergencies. At the successful completion of the two day course you will be certified or re-certified in wilderness first aid.
The price for the course is $115 per person for Sierra Club members. This special price is more than 50% off of the regular price for a wilderness first aid course. It will be conducted September 7-8, 2019 and participants must commit to attend both days. The course will be held at Kirtland Air Force Base, Outdoor Recreation Office, in Albuquerque.
If you wish to attend or have questions contact Terry Owen at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than July 19th. Payment will be required to hold your seat and reserve the instructor. Seats are expected to go fast so don’t wait!
