Now, more than ever, citizen engagement is important in our government. With another New Mexico legislative session coming in January, it's time to get activated. January's 30-day budget-focused session won't feature as much environmental legislation as longer sessions do, but there will still be good legislation you can support and bad legislation you can prevent. Learn how the legislature works, what elected officials are thinking, the importance of their staff, and how to communicate your message effectively ...
First Friday Arts – December 2017

As an artist and outdoor enthusiast, Carol Chamberland finds inspiration in the wild landscapes of New Mexico. Her recent works include mixed media paintings, digital print media, and photography. This series, called Reprise of the Ancient Ones, “celebrates the vision of the ancient artists with the utmost respect for their craft. Each image is faithfully drawn, then digitized and superimposed on a stylized photo of the landscape where that petroglyph resides.”

Carol’s works have been exhibited in a variety of venues, including the New Mexico State Fair, the Placitas Artist Series, Taos Center for the Arts, the Art Center at Fuller Lodge, and the Albuquerque Open Space Visitor Center. She is represented in Albuquerque by the Weyrich Gallery.

Trip report – Ancho Rapids/Frijoles hike

10/14/2017
From leader Aku

Five hikers had a PERFECT day on Saturday for a hike from the Ancho Rapids trailhead to Lower Frijoles Falls in Bandelier, and back.  After a  brief side visit to Ancho Rapids, they hiked through White Rock Canyon, enjoying both the exceptional scenery and the considerable challenge of getting to the falls.  In the last few years, the route along the bank of the Rio Grande has become much more overgrown and impeded by deadfall through lack of use.  Everyone enthusiastically accepted the challenges of the route and worked together to create a wonderful outing.
