Excursiones’ January & February 2019 trip reports

Always refreshing to visit the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park.  We had the expertise of RGNC’s Instructional Coordinator Karen, as well as RGNC’s volunteer naturalist Sue. We spotted a porcupine napping perched on the top of a tree, a hawk flew over our heads, and saw a blue heron, cranes and other feathered friends. This Spanish-language outing was on Jan 27th.

On Feb 9th we enjoyed Piedras Marcadas Canyon, part of the Petroglyphs National Monument. Excursiones had a great and varied group; enjoyed the good weather, found delight in spotting the carved designs on the basalt rocks created by ancestors of present-day native Americans (and some settlers many decades later), and had a good leisure walk.

The best part of these Excursiones is the conviviality experienced as we bask in the outdoors.
